The independent software-testing lab AV-Test ran two-dozen antimalware products, including McAfee AntiVirus Plus, for two months in the summer of 2013. Test results showed that McAfee is excellent at usability, which AV-Test defines in terms of the product’s effect on system performance plus the rate at which it correctly identifies malware. According to AV-Test performance results regarding its ability to protect against unknown and known malware, McAfee received very good marks. In the series of tests that measured the ability to disinfect a PC already riddled with active malware, McAfee did not do well.
